Customer Administration
So how would you describe your role?
Customer administration jobs allow you to help customers without talking directly to them. When a customer issue arises, I work with people from other departments such as Customer Services to gather all the information needed to resolve the query, then record it on the computer system.
What kind of skills do you need?
Jobs in customer administration involve quite a lot of paperwork – for example, I might be processing a customer payment for a car rental agreement – so I need to have a good eye for detail. There’s some basic arithmetic involved too, working out percentages and the VAT on payments – but we do use calculators! As a team we support each other to develop our skills, so I think some of the most important things are being enthusiastic and willing to go that extra mile to do the best we can.
Is there anything about the role that you think might not suit some people?
If you’re after a job with a lot of customer contact then this role probably isn’t for you. Customer administration jobs are more desk based, with quite a lot of paperwork and customer transactions to process – so you need to be happy working with set procedures and keeping up to date with policy changes. You also need to be flexible to work in shifts, and to stay positive and professional at all times.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
Jobs in customer administration involve being part of a team, and taking responsibility for specific tasks and queries. It feels good being able to help solve problems – and it’s nice having my own desk and computer too.
If customer administration jobs sound like something you’ll thrive in, then we’d like to hear from you. Joining us, you’ll also enjoy a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package that you can tailor to suit your individual needs.
